Hampstead Garden Suburb is an affluent area founded in 1906 by Henrietta Barnett, 'the Suburb', as it is known locally, comprises just over 5,000 properties and is home to around 13,000 people. Although one of the original aims was to cater for all classes of people and all income groups, some of London's most expensive properties can now be found here. The charming villages in nearby Hampstead and Highgate make the area highly desirable and the added attraction of great schools means it very popular with families.
