Dexters opens a new office in Canada Water

We continue to grow in south east London

Due to our continued success and love of the area, we are expanding our network to meet the record activity in the sales and lettings market. Our new Canada Water office on Surrey Quays Road has opened its doors, allowing us to serve more local clients and customers in this sought after neighbourhood.

Located at the heart of London’s maritime heritage, Canada Water has evolved from a working dock to a thriving residential hub. This is reflected in the range of properties on offer, from modern developments to warehouse conversions, dating back to the construction of Canada Dock in 1876 for the timber trade. Significant investment is transforming the area, as Shannon Waterfall, Manager of Dexters Canada Water, explains, “The neighbourhood is undergoing an exciting regeneration project that will create 3,000 new homes and we expect to see tenants and buyers flock here to be a part of this.”

Combining urban convenience with waterside charm, Canada Water has something for everyone. In particular, residents value the well-connected location and proximity to Canary Wharf and the City. Lauren Felbar, Director of Dexters Canada Water, highlights its appeal, “The unbeatable transport links are driving strong demand from young professionals and corporate tenants. The Thames Clipper offers a scenic commute, with Jubilee line services to London Bridge in just a few minutes and Overground services to Shoreditch in nearly ten minutes.”

Canada Water attracts a lot of interest from first-time buyers due to its lively community and picturesque setting. With central London on your doorstep, you can also enjoy the best of outdoor living. Where Canada Dock once stood, there is a freshwater lake and wildlife refuge, providing idyllic views of nature. The Thames Path offers riverside routes towards Greenwich, or if you are looking to take up sailing, kayaking or windsurfing, there is a watersports centre at Surrey Docks. Shannon says, “The green spaces, ecological park and Ofsted-rated Outstanding schools draw many young families to the area, who want to put down roots and stay connected to the city.”

Properties along the riverfront are highly sought after, with panoramic views of the London skyline. “Rotherhithe Street is particularly desirable and includes many gated developments with 24-hour concierge and on-site gyms,” says Lauren. Dexters is achieving impressive success in this location and recently let a two bedroom apartment on the street with a balcony overlooking the Thames, securing a tenant at the asking price of £2,600 pcm.

There is high demand for the area surrounding Canada Water station and lakeside, with its choice of shops, cafés and restaurants. Shannon says, “Canada Water and Surrey Water are favoured for their views and Greenland Dock is perfect for those who want to live directly by the marina.” Dexters recently sold a beautifully presented two bedroom apartment in a popular development on Needleman Street, moments from the station. Instructed on a multiple-agency basis, the team received several offers and the property has now been successfully sold.

From local delis to highly rated restaurants, there is an eclectic mix of dining options. Lauren recommends the Canada Water Cafe, which transforms into a buzzing Italian restaurant by night. For a relaxed breakfast or lunch, Shannon suggests The Pear Tree, “This Australian-inspired neighbourhood restaurant on Greenland Place is a personal favourite.” There are riverside pubs for drinks with friends, such as the historic Mayflower in Rotherhithe Village. If you are near Deal Porter Square, Canada Water Market is open every Sunday with independent stalls and street food for lunch on the go.

Demand for properties in the area is soaring, as the waterside location and vibrant lifestyle continue to attract buyers and tenants. To celebrate the opening of our new Canada Water office, we are offering to sell the first 100 properties for 0%*.
