Ultra-minimalism in a stylish triple height loft

Hackney is the place to be. Perhaps the most famous east London area to have transformed into a hipster paradise, the neighbourhood has become synonymous with the word ‘cool’ over the last decade. The London 2012 Olympics had much to do with Hackney’s transformation, bringing with it new transport links, swanky developments and improved schools.

Today, the town centre is buzzing with bars, regenerated historical entertainment venues and swanky restaurants. But, away from the hustle and bustle of Broadway Market and Columbia Road, there are also quieter neighbourhoods with strong community vibes: Victoria Park Village, London Fields and Hackney Downs.

Now, an authentic 1,809 sq. ft penthouse loft with a seven metre high vaulted skylight has become available around the corner of Hackney Central. Set within a Victorian school conversion, the flat was originally a science classroom during the 1910s when it operated as the Hackney Institute. Today, part of the Queen Anne style building has been transformed into an expansive loft conversion with plenty of entertaining space.

Few properties in London offer sheer size and height, so the first thing you’ll notice when you enter is the awe-inspiring triple height ceilings and open plan design. The apartment has retained some of its industrial looks, including steel beams and a large round window framed with exposed brick. But, elsewhere, the property has been entirely renovated in a  clean and contemporary style.

Ultra-minimalist in design, the apartment has a split mezzanine level, with panelled wooden floors centred around a white grand staircase. On the ground level, a spacious dining and reception room offers a kitchen, with integrated appliances and a statement red stove. There are two double bedrooms on this floor, while upstairs, buyers will find a spacious study on the balcony level that overlooks the local streets.

Jodie Ryan, Director of Dexters Hackney says, “This standout apartment in east London offers a unique living space with period features and a modern twist of fixtures and fittings. Located just ten minutes to Liverpool Street Station and the City, it would make an ideal home for a couple or a young professional.”
