Cameras on Cricklewood

The Home where Disobedience was filmed

Cricklewood, nestled between Hendon, Hampstead and Kilburn, has become a north London hotspot over the last decade. Popular with families thanks to its abundance of large late Victorian and Edwardian townhouses and proximity to great schools such as Lyndhurst House and Hampstead Hill, the neighbourhood was also the filming location for the 2017 independent film ‘Disobedience’.

The movie was shot around a five bedroom, three bathroom home on Heber Road, and featured famous Hollywood actors Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams. Now, this property, under half a mile from Willesden Green Underground, is available for sale and features its own 65 ft garden.

Based on Naomi Alderman’s renowned novel, the movie tells the tale of a woman called Ronit who returns to her Orthodox Jewish community, after being shunned from it following a relationship with a female childhood friend. Ronit, played by Rachel Weisz, then rekindles a romance with her best friend, Esti, despite being married to her cousin.

Today, this well presented Edwardian semi-detached house makes an inviting family home. Stepping through the front door, buyers will find a grand entrance hall that leads to a spacious sitting room with original period features including a red-tiled fireplace, painted wood panelling and a beautiful stained glass bay window.

The dining room next door has parquet wooden floors and an original tile-lined fireplace and is exceptionally bright thanks to the addition of two skylights and a wall of stained glass panels which overlook the conservatory area.

The adjoining kitchen features grey tiled floors, marble countertops and integrated appliances. Those who enjoy cooking can prepare meals whilst looking out to the garden which has a private balcony deck, wooden pergola and extensive lawns. For those working flexibly, there are also two garden rooms which could function as offices.

Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms provided for by a large family bathroom, and on the top floor, the primary suite has access to under eaves storage as well as its own en suite bathroom.

Neela Patel, Manager of Dexters Cricklewood, says, 'With beautiful bay and stained glass windows, it's easy to understand why this house was chosen as a film location. It has an abundance of natural light which makes it perfect for shooting.'
