About Islington
Islington grew as a sprawling Middlesex village along the line of the Great North Road, and has provided the name of the modern borough. Islington itself is a large area that is home to two Conservation Areas in Barnsbury and De Beauvoir Town and is centred around Angel Station, with Upper Street in-between. Renowned for its quirky shops on Camden Passage and shops and restaurants that run all the way along Upper Street, the area has lots of large period homes as well as ex-local and purpose-built flats all within walking distance from the City.
